I have purchased the Ooma Telo and connected it directly to my incoming internet line (8-conductor RJ45X). I connected my computer router so that it is behind the Ooma Telo, as suggested by technical experts. However, my quality of service is compromised in that callers are complaining that I am cutting out at times, although I am able to hear them fine. Even though my router and computer are wired in series behind the Ooma, I unplugged them to see if there would be any difference. There was no difference in quality.
I have 1 Mb broadband service provided through a wireless link. I do not know the download vs upload speeds on my service, but the only possible issue that I can see is my upload may need to be higher. However, that would entail a costly upgrade to a premium service provided by my internet provider: double the monthly rate that I pay now..
I am curious to learn if there are any other options available for me to look at. As it stands right now, I am not able to make the leap to Ooma service.

Update. I contacted my ISP and discovered that the 2 Million Mb service was now only $10/month more, so I upgraded, hoping to improve the Ooma service. Unfortunately, there was no improvement. I conducted several test calls to my cell phone voice mail, counting to 30 or 40, and when I retrieved the messages, they were horribly choppy, at times incomprehensible. I regret that the service has not worked out as expected. So far, I have not uncovered any informaiton that might improve service. I will contact Ooma here shortly. If I discover a solution, I will post it.
